It's been a dream of mine to build a recording studio for a long time. I didn't know how it would happen but I always knew it was something I'd do at some point. In 2022 my wife and I moved to a new house in Cambridge and we were fortunate to have a decent sized garden. Upon moving in I quickly set about building a studio space. It was a massive leap of faith as I decided to do it DIY style, and having never built anything before, it was a real challenge.
Thousands of hours on YouTube, a trip to A&E, a ridiculous amount work and a year and half later, I had built my new studio space. It still needs some decoration before it's completely finished, but it's close enough and sounding great.
I've been working on a number of projects with some great singer-songwriters, as well as finishing off a record of my own. It's amazing to finally have a studio space that is solely for making music and I'm finding that having that dedicated space for creating sounds is having a profound impact on my creative process. I've already written quite a few songs and have plenty of new ideas brewing for album number 5, but I should really finish album 4 first. More on that very soon.
